Hello everyone! Once again i decided to buy a Omega watch and i came across this solid 18k gold beauty. But i have some doubts regarding the dial.

    - I have never seen a Omega watch without minute markers. This dial dont have any minute markers.
    - The letter "G" on the Omega tag looks abit strange, should it look like that?
    - In the word "Seamaster" the letter "S" looks round, usually they are of different style.
    - In the word "Seamaster" the last letter "R" looks abit to long.

So what do you guys think? Pics are attached bellow

so you guys think its a redail? I googled around abit and found other Omega watches with same letter "G" and rounded "S" and longer "R". Can it be so that Omega changed the way they wrote letters?

Have you googled a De Ville with M (straight chevrons) in AUTOMATIC.

I thought the same. I don't get why anyone would take such trouble over a superb redial job then miss off the minute markers. The case appears immaculate so the watch seems to have been well looked-after. A movement shot would help assess overall condition.

Looks fine to me. While not common, on some dressy pieces the minute markers are left out - I'd say that if the dial had been reworked there would be more signs of it. This seems to have the correct crown, a signed crystal and minimal polish. As @Edward53 says, a photo of the movement would help out.

Thanks for reply. Whats your opinion on the straight "M" letter in automatic?

It looks like there are tiny serifs on top of the M. This is not the usual font, but it looks original judging from the print quality. And the watch is stunning.

The watch is stunning indeed. I payed alot of money for it and the seller offers me full refund if i am not satisfied.. I am debating on whether to keep the watch or send it back. Its not a very common watch either. I dont have the tools to open the case up, need to visit a watch repairer for this.

I took some more macro pics and noticed that the last "A" in the word Omega is abit tilted. Also the first "T" in automatic seams abit short compared to the rest of the letters...

The spacing of the word automatic looks off to me. There’s are large gap between U & T and it’s quite cramped between M & A. I think with your detective work you have answered your own question.

I think it's ok and what you're seeing is just the dial maker's variation. Omega did not make these dials centrally but contracted them out to different companies. These watches were meant to be worn, not studied obsessively under a magnifying glass and original dials occasionally have faults that wouldn't normally be evident. For me, the print quality is too high to be a repaint - exceptionally difficult on a textured dial - so if it really is a redial it's been printed on. Personally I would be happy with it but I'm just an interested amateur with far less experience than some folks here, so it comes down to your personal choice. If it turns out to be a redial, it's such a good one that I could live with it, but again that's just me.

Any hallmarks on the case showing country of origin?

I think the dial looks good and original.
I would be quite surprised to learn, if that was in fact not the true.

    How much did you pay?

I payed around 1200 euro for it. I dont know the value of such a watch but the non gold versions without linen dial goes for around 4-500 euros i seen.

Good price for an 18K classic, in my opinion. Congrats!
