Hi, I’m offered to purchase this nice rose gold and steel Seamaster from the 50s. I have tried to search the web for info, but can not find info on this variation. Automatic Chronometre. I think it’s a more exclusive type of Seamaster. Does anyone have an idea of a fair price for it? It’s in working condition, but has some rather ugly inscriptions on case back. Thanks /Ed
Chronometre and SEAMASTER Look a lot different and darker than the other script don't they. Several issues just from one photo you need a lot more photos as per link above. How much is it offered for ?
Thanks Efauser and Standy, here are some more pics. I believe it’s a 50’s model, delivered to Sweden. I’m asked to leave a bid, but also that around $200 is out of the question. So what i’m Wondering is if this is a super rare model. Thankful for any info or ideas. /Ed
It looks like a Seamaster chronometer with a 343 movement and a Constellation crown. A bit polished and I can't tell if that's shadow on the upper right lugs or the gold cap has worn through. The dial looks ok to me.
I've seen several models where the "seamaster" script is darker than "Automatic chronometre". If it is indeed a 343, it's worth a lot more than your usual seamaster!
Here is the Omega Vintage Database entry for this watch: https://www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-seamaster-omega-ot-2518/ It was not unusual in those days for Omega to print the Chronometre and Seamaster separately from the rest of the dial. Basically, they took a regular Omega Automatic dial and "upgraded" it at the factory. Looks good to me except for the crown. I would want to know if gold-capping is worn through on the lugs or not. Better pictures would help. gatorcpa
"Swiss made" is pretty thick too. Is that normal? A somewhat unrelated question: was the gold cap finish meant mainly for the American market? That's the response I get when I show my gold cap Connie to people in France.
Thanks for all your helpful comments. I bought it and I really like it. Here's a picture of the 333 movement.
