Hi! Whilst I'm able to tell fake vintage breitling's and JLC's apart pretty easily, I'm a complete novices with omega's. A local seller is selling a "vintage seamaster" a friend asked me whether I thought it was legit. I don't know enough to be sure, but it looks too new to be a '60's model like the seller is claiming, especially the hands. Is it a redial? Complete fake? Legit? Thanks chaps!
Need better front on shots to see if a redial or not. Looks like it's been tarted up with relumed hands and that omega strap. Crown is a generic replacement. Bet they want a lot more than it's worth. Front on shot, case back and movement before talking price is my advice....
The hands and crown are definitely incorrect. The dial looks "very" clean but can't make any determinations without a more zoomed picture
Thanks for the replies guys! I've asked the seller for some front on shots and photos of the movement and the caseback, we'll see what happens. Hand lume still looks way too new to me.
The "Omega" Strap looks an awful lot like the cheap Chinese "genuine omega straps" on eBay... real ones tend not to have "GENUINE LEATHER" stamped into them like that. I'd take a punt on this having been bought cheap, cleaned up, and made shiny, in the hope of huge profits... tread carefully sir.
Seller says he doesn't know how to open the caseback, so no photos there, but he sent me this: Thoughts?
I've advised my friend of this thread and everyone's advice, and he is grateful. For my own education can I ask why in particular beyond the hands? Is the 'Seamaster' re-lettered as well?
I thought as much, which is why I asked. But wasn't sure how much variability there was in dial fonts Thanks again guys!
