Hi one and all. Thinking of having a punt on this... any alarm bells? And what sort of price is reasonable? Watch has engraved caseback (name & military serial no.), otherwise no history. Cal. 601. Thanks
Last one I sold - much nicer case and dial, replacement crown, no military connections, serviced with 12 month warranty - was £750. There are so many dial variations with these that I reserve judgment on any til I can get up close and personal with them ... this looks OK-ish.
Omega font and logo look off, dial is not one I recall seeing before, especially with those hands, I'm suspicious about anything claiming to be "military". I'd want to see at lease a couple verified examples of this dial before spending my money.
I just played around with the photo editing suite on my laptop. The "Seamaster" on this dial lines up perfectly with a photo in my archives, except for the first "e". I wish I was clever enough to show two images together. Now, I've had this conversation before on these Seamaster fonts ... it seems that the examples I see most (in the UK) are the less common ones elsewhere. So, is there a small defect in the glass there which is distorting that letter or is it a different font ... or is it just wrong? The font at the top looked a little off to me, again, comparing to past examples. But, I'm not entirely sure the difference isn't down to angles and the effect of those strange hands which just seem totally out of place. I can't seem to stop looking at those hands. I feel like I should know which watch they came off. The spear sweep hand is very odd too. Anyway, I'm not going to call it a redial. It's OK-ish. More and better photos are needed. The handset, though ... different story.
