    Dear respectable members,

There is an offer from local seller on this Seamaster 503 black dial. Would like your opinion whether it is still original or a redial. Unfortunately the picture quality is rather low. Thanks for your help.

Wow, if that's a redial it's fantastic!!! I suspect it is after a casual glance because it's just too nice compared to the slightly tarnished condition of the movement.

Yes, I thought the surface of the dial looks too fresh, too.

No idea.......... I will meet the seller today. I would bring the loupe to check that. If it's glue then confirming it's a redial, isn't it?

I actually think based on these photos that it is original.

The bit of discoloration around the Omega logo is typical of how these black dials often age.

That's actually a pretty cool watch if it is original, its the "Don Draper" configuration right down to the crosshair, just without being a De Ville

After looking in person with loupe, I decided to take the watch. There is still a 20% chance it is a redial, but from direct examination, the surface is aging as it should for 40+ years. The font looks correct and the 'glue' that CanberraOmega suspicious about is actually slight oxidation. It happened also just below 12 mark. The font also look okay. The case is slightly polished but not too much, I can still see some edges in the lugs.

I did the transaction at the back of Gas station, where I inspected small package using loupe, go to nearby ATM to get hundreds dollar worth of cash, then exchange with something in little box covered with white tissues. If I were a person who just incidentally looking at the whole thing......it would look very very suspicious :D.

Too funny! I've done the same thing at rest stops along the NJ Turnpike, in diners, and the back of coffee shops. I can only imagine how fishy it looks with a short, bald, Italian looking guy like me to be handing over an envelope stuffed with fifties and hundreds for a package. :p

Yeah, probably. :p Guess it depends on what vehicles are being driven. Fortunately, Toyota Corollas fly under the radar.

With all those gold watches, you need to step up in the world and get yourself a nice garbage truck :D .
