    Hello all,

I would like to have your opinion about my seamaster 300. I gave it to a watchmaker for a full service (with perfect hands) and unfortunately I receive it like this : with a lack of tritium on the hour hand.
What would you do in my place? Leave the hand like this ? (But I fear that it weakens the tritium and other tritium coming loose over time) or to relume partially the hand ?
Do you know some people to do this job ? (James Hyman maybe ?)

    Thanks a lot

It happens, but fortunately, not a difficult fix.

If it were mine, I would see about having the hand stabilized from the back with matching color lume.

    Nice example, BTW.

I would think you would want to keep the beautiful matching color on the hands and dial.

So it was returned without disclosing that he damaged it?

    Please share who did this.

It needs to be repaired and stabilized by a professional. Where are you located?

That's the problem with watchmakers who do not understand vintage watches.

,As disappointed as you are I would leave the hands as they are, I would however be looking for a reduction in the bill for servicing the watch .

Thanks everybody for your advice !!

Yes, unfortunately the watchmaker didn't inform me about this problem. And the bigger problem is that the watch don't work after the full service !! :-( Hands are not moving after winding the watch !! So I really hesitate before to send the watch again to this watchmaker... I'm in France.
I thought to send it to James Hyman but I don't know if he will stabilize the hour hand with luminescent paint (to glowing like tritium after exposure)

Rob, @Horlogerie is in France and is on this forum. I've not used him but others have. He is sympathetic to vintage watches - have a look at his posts here.

    Cheers, Chris
