Can anyone confirm, that a (the) "missing" "W" on the caseback means, that it is NOT a watch from the "British Special Air Service" ???

Many thanks again for all the advise.
It’s been a real eye opener for me since I posted this watch! All the lovely comments on the forum and not to mention the huge amount of private messages I’ve received.
Advise has been generally mixed as to what to do with the watch, for now it sits in a safety deposit box. I’m going to have a good think as to what to do, whether to keep, auction or sell privately…
I honestly never realised the demand for this piece along with the value, I was only posting to get some info on it as I received nothing with the watch.

You’ve found two amazing things : this watch and this forum !

Now enjoy the watch, whatever you decide to do with it. And keep us informed 😀

The Brits have become more adventurous..... Dark green is an option now ... I had a few mil. Subs and found green nicer..... Personal taste....
Green straps were army, grey for navy.

What missing W?
Do you mean. W10 designation instead of 0552?
One is Army, the other Navy but in reality I don’t think it meant much.

As I stated earlier the code indicates Royal Navy where W10 would be army.

MOD codes:

W10 British Army

0552 Royal Navy

0555 Royal Marines

6BB Royal Airforce

Here’s a link to a thread I just started. It’s really worth working out how to register over there too. OmegaForums and MWR are pretty much the best two watches forums on the internet for fairness and honest advice. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

The reason as I understand it is that there’s been a lot of spam postings by various bots- and so a lot of the email and registration traffic gets lost, it’s a very small group of admins doing this on their private time. I can flag your request.

Did you register with the same name as here?

And all we know is he was a “military diver”
Could have been sas, sbs, rn clearance diver, royal marines, royal engineers diver.
Probably some I’ve missed out.
Chopper pilots and various officers got them too, but this does not tie in with the “diver” story.
