hello everyone I'm being offered this seamaster 300. Price seems to good to be true, seller says its original. What do you guys think? Haven't seen the watch in person yet.
please see the reference links posted here https://omegaforums.net/threads/fake-omega-300.45826/ (and in many other threads).
Standard fake. Stubbies, closed numbers, pointy A. Ticks all the boxes. Do some thorough reading if you're in the market for one of these.
Cool. thanks guys. Wasn't really in the market for one. But it was just offered to me. These fakes are getting better and better in quality
This is (fortunately) not a “good quality” fake, and it's not better than ones seen before, you can tell at a glance.
What bothers me is that the obvious differences could be easily removed at no cost, the close 6 and 9, the lines on minutes markers that should not be there, the pointed A....
A steady hand and a little black paint would get rid of the 'stubbies' and possibly 'open' the 6 & 9, if you're careful. Surely with the steadily rising price of genuine SM300s, it won't take to long before there are more convincing fakes around? The service cases, dials and hands would be comparatively easy to reproduce, as no patina would be needed in order to create fake 'Watchcos'.
Lets not overlook that the movement is off too. 20 jewel 501? To my knowledge this was never fitted to these in period as it was more a 1950s thing
