No idea how, but I’ve managed to put some damage into the bezel insert of my 300 heritage!

Does anyone know
1) is this likely to be problem functionally, or is it likely just cosmetic

2) how much would it cost to replace/ repair?

Thanks in advance!

Since the insert is aluminum, you don’t have to worry about it being a crack and breaking apart - it’s just a bad surface scratch. So, it won’t affect performance at all. Only way to “repair” it is to replace the entire bezel assembly. Don’t know the price, but will probably be more than a few hundred dollars.

I’d just accept it as a badge of honor for actually wearing your watch and not worry about a replacement until you have it serviced in the future.

You must have cracked the watch into something hard. The culprit for me is usually a door frame.

This is the cost of doing business with a wrist watch. In the Rolex world these types of scuffs were considered desirable. The utility/function of the watch is not compromised.

I know that new bezels for the 1990's Bond Seamasters run around $300 new. That includes the frame and insert (and click spring). Given that your Heritage is made from the same materials, I would guess the price is similar. Pricey--but not nearly as expensive as ceramic bezels, which tend to crack or shatter rather than scratch.

If it really bothers you then you could get it replaced. Or wait until it needs to be serviced. Or leave it alone as more dings and scratches will be coming down the road and it's best to accept it rather than fight it. Personally, I would leave it alone and only consider replacing it years down the road if it looks much worse.

Omega will charge you a minimum of 600 CHF to service the watch, and during the service they would give you the option of replacing the bezel (for extra).

I would agree as above, wear it, and if you come to sell it send it to omega and they will make it look like new again.
