This Omega Seamaster 300 CK 14755 is being offered with definite flaws. The dial is wrong for the model and also the hands. However, the bezel is in great shape and the cal. 550 movement is working properly. Case is decent but the case back has been over polished to the point that all markings are barely visible. My question is if the watch is still worth buying and wait for a correct dial and hands to pop up in the market?

Depends on how much it costs. It may be worthwhile just for the bezel. You would likely wait a long time for the correct dial to appear for sale, however.

Partly depends on price, and how likely you think it is you will find a dial and hands. Do proper ones even show up, ever?

A lot of work for an unknown outcome.

If the dial and hands are not original why would you think the bezel is?

    I believe dial isn't only wrong, it's a fake.
Here is a 165014-63 which has the next generation dial after the 14755. Notice the open 6 and 9. The OP 6 and 9 are closed.dial is a fake.

Here is what an all original 14755-61 should look like. Keep looking.

Dial: fake/repaint..... I`d go for a "repainted" dial. you can have it repainted once more in the correct configuration. hands are a bit late, but you find the right ones from time to time with Watchco. so, if you purchase is under US$ 2000, it is worth considering. a project, but still..... your decision. kind regards. achim

The dial is obviously fake/repainted. The hands are, as mentioned, too new, but they are themselves quite hard to find and are worth a fair bit. The bezel looks like it may have been redone, but even a blank one of these is worth $1200 to $1500. I don't think it is a totally fake case and bezel.

Generally when the dial and hands have been replaced with bad or fakes, its a sign to stay away. If the bezel is original, then thats the most valuable part here. Does that make this a project watch? Hardly...its not hard to find a much better example. But if the dial and hands are not original, the chances of that bezel being original are slim to none.

Second hand looks weird though. What about the crown ? Is it original ?
I am asking because I am looking for a nice bezel and an original naïad crown for my 165.014.
So if anyone has a spare one of each laying ina drawer drop me a PM....

I would pass on this watch to many issues with it . there's far better looking 300 out there you just have to bide you time . I picked this one up for not a lot of money like most on there seamaster 300 the bezels have been redone and I'm sure the hands have been changed on mine as well , but for me the important part of the watch is the dial and case back it they match .... your on to a winner.

Thanks for all the sound advise. I spoke to the owner and he said that he has owned the watch for 20 years. The only thing he did was to have the dial refinished about 2 years ago. The guy who did the dial was the one who suggested to refinish it copying the 3rd gen design. The hands he said were the same ones when he bought the watch from the first owner. He might consider selling it for $2k. Very tempting.

It would be interesting to know what it looked like before the refinishing. 2k is reasonable looking at it as a collection of parts.

Here is one that sold for $2750, with a fake dial, wrong hands and blank bezel.
