Seamaster 300 Bronze/Gold - Opinions and/or experiences

Dear OF fellows

actually I am more in the vintage field of Omega (or watches generally) but sometimes I do a little reasearch in the Omega Boutique - especially when new models catch my attention.

As happened with the new Bronze/Gold Seamaster - in my opinion a really great looking watch which I wanted to see it in flesh. So I visited my local Omega Boutique to try it on.

As always I had a warm welcome, and the desired Seamaster was in stock. I looked at it in detail and was able to put it on the wrist - the initial view was confirmed: an awesome looking watch.

My feeling was that the coloring is amazing: not as warm and yelling as gold, but also a little lighter than bronze. Feeling absolutely good, the sandwich dial is nice in my opinion, the leather strap fits well the look. A real temptation!

I really consider(ed) ordering one - slept a bit over it, but then got some thoughts about the material: sports watch with soft material - definitely getting patina (what I really like with bronze cases) but does anyone know how it will evolve? I know it will never be a tool watch/daily beater but as I like to wear my watches - and this is for me a bit more on the sporty side - I would like to know what it could possibly handle.

Would love to read your thoughts/experiences/opinions on this watch 😀

It is a very nice looking watch. A week ago I bought the same watch as this, except that mine is the stainless steel version, with the bracelet. The reasons for my choice: First the SS version is almost half the price of the bronze/gold, and I didn’t want to pay that much for a watch. Another disadvantage of the B/G version is that you are pretty much limited to the strap that comes with it, or transfer the buckle when you want to change straps, and there is no bracelet option. Most of the time I like to use a bracelet, but like to move to a strap for the different look.

So that was my thinking, but get what works for you. I’m very pleased with the watch. Looks different in person than in any of the pictures, very legible in any light, and since getting it over a week ago, it has only gained about 2-3 seconds total!

It is a stunning watch in person. I think quite a few of us are waiting to find out how that metal ages.

From what I’ve read the watch will never patina because of the gold. It’s not pure bronze.

It is not going to turn green; it is going to get darker. Omega has not claimed that the color is stable. I am curious to see if darkens towards brown or becomes more reddish...

Even 14 or 18 carat gold watches patinate/tarnish with age as it is not pure gold - you'd have to be extremely cautious to not remove it though 😀

Here's one of the most beautifully aged watches I have seen, an 18c Rolex 6062:

I would love if it gets a nice patina! @ConElPueblo the Rolex looks stunning!

I am already curious which color it turns...

What I am also wondering: how scratch resistant is the bronze/gold? I guess it's more on the soft side?

Mine arrived last week and it's way better than I expected...I really like it a LOT! It's not as flashy as gold yet has the brilliance...and the retro vibe works great...it's a really cool piece.

I have had both the stainless steel and Bronze Gold since May so it’s almost been two months already. The Bronze Gold hasn’t gained patina at all despite throwing it in the sand, swimming in the ocean and the pool, going into extremely humid areas and wearing it non-stop. The material is surprisingly resilient to scratches and impacts as I have very few hairlines on mine. I find myself wearing this more than the stainless 300.

all in all, it’s a solid piece.

Man, oh man... I needed a trigger warning before seeing that buried-in-the-sand shot!

Really hoping the bronze gold isn't a one-shot deal with Omega. Would love to see something in full bracelet bronze gold. Bracelets have all those crevices where patina can, potentially, develop and I honestly hope there's an aged / awesome look with this alloy after an extended period.

Tried it on yesterday at the Omega Boutique in Vegas.......lovely watch but $11,000??? It just, at least for me, doesn't "feel' like an $11,000 watch...nor is the SS version "feel" like a $6,800 watch.......great looking!1 For those who own them, enjoy in the best of health!!!!!.

Sorry for the shocker! Many folks wanted to see how it would do in real life situations so I bit the bullet… and the piece made it out alive hahaha.

There have been rumors about a bracelet coming on as an accessory but it’s not very likely and I honestly don’t know how it would be executed on the watch. Will it be gaudy? Will it be heavy? It’ll be low to mid four-digits considering the alloy. Let’s see.

I plan to do more things to it in the coming weeks so hopefully that’ll bring out something interesting. If not, oh well 😀.

6500 for the stainless steel on the bracelet. 6800’s for the previous generation 😁.

I usually detest gold watches but this was literally the piece I’ve been dreaming about since last year and it certainly exceeded my expectation. Gold but not showy, bronze but not green. It looks almost pinkish outside in the sun and surprisingly inconspicuous (which is very ideal in this day and age).
