    Good Evening

After laying in storage for 30 years, and being in my family since new nearly 50 years ago, I have finally decided to try and obtain some information on my watch.

    Omega
    Seamaster 300
    165.024 Model
    Big Triangle Version
    Sword Hands
    Original Box
    Original Paperwork
Original Handwritten Warranty (Still Attached - Date/Model/Parts)

It is missing the original strap hence being given to me as a 10 year old child, when a family member upgraded his time piece.

As far as we are aware, it is all original with the exception of the strap and has never been opened for re-luming.

I am not an expert and this is my first ever post on such a forum, so any advice or information gratefully received.

The front of the watch has some ware and the bezel is faded, but turns with no issues and is quite firm, the rear of the watch is in great shape and all Omega markings are clear, the Crown shows little signs of wear for age. Box and paperwork in very good condition.

Looking forward to your thoughts on what hopefully is a very interesting watch.

    Very nice!

What information are you hoping to receive?

It would help if you could take/ post better/ clearer pics of the dial.

And you can get the caseback opened and take pics of the movement, and also to obtain the serial # for ordering an Extract of the Archives from Omega.

These sell for quite a bit lately. Usually over $7k USD, and easily over $10k for the nicer examples.

My thoughts are your watch is worth a bunch of money.

Interesting how the tritium has degraded in the bezel. Or perhaps it's the photo

Thanks - I will not risk opening the caseback as I would be too afraid of damaging the watch. But I can add some more pictures and do have the paperwork that came with it upon purchase. I will look at obtaining an official document from Omega as this evolves.

    thanks Jon

If it's been in your family since new and has the paperwork then I don't think there's much point getting an extract of the archives from Omega. It would be more important to get it serviced by someone who is used to dealing with vintage Omegas. Are you UK based?

It looks nice but like others have said, please post some better close up photos. They may come out better using natural daylight.

Yes UK based, we have an Omega supplier close too, so perhaps I should take it to them to have a look.
I'll take some better pictures tomorrow in normal light. thanks.

I'd be very careful who you let touch it. It's best to use a watchmaker that is used to dealing with vintage models. I'm sure you'll get some recommendations on here.

Don't do anything that compromises it's originality like polishing the case or reluming it!

thanks, no I will only let experts touch it. Original as possible all of the way. I'm thinking it's a later model ca 1968/9 from info so far.

Wow what an amazing example. It's stunning that people still find those gems in drawers, barns or wherever...

    Wear it in good health.

Please don't rush into things in relation to the service. Take your time and find a specialist for vintage watches.

Thanks to many people for some very helpful information.

So today I went to my local Omega specialist who took the back from the watch.

Serial number engraved reads 25617326 and model inside case reads 165.024. Both exactly matching my original paperwork.

The numbers 1/552 are also present and 24 Jewel confirmation.

It was also the opinion of the jeweller that the watch back has never been removed and is completely original and untouched since new.

They said it was one of the finest original watches seen there for a long time, and I should consider sending to Omega for appraisal.

If you're thinking of selling it don't get it serviced, collectors love these untouched barn finds and often pay a premium. If you want to wear it then service it and Simon Freese in Essex is the way to go imo.

Oh and DO NOT send it to Omega for appraised or service despite what your locl Omega guy says!
