I have a query regarding the winding stem for the 565 on the 166.024 , I'd like to know the physical difference
between the 563-1106 and the 550-1106.
I see on a sale that the 550-1106 is suitable for the 565 movement, I know the correct part is 563-1106 but in a side by side comparison they both appear identical.

One is for a no date (550) and one is for a quick-set date (563), so there may be some difference in the contours which aren't apparent in the photos or the photos aren't for the actual parts (stock photos).

@Archer would know if they are indeed interchangeable.

Just one thing, I'd like to add to this is, that I purchased 550-1106 stem specifically because the 565 movement was mentioned, with the intent to fit the original crown which was returned from an Omega service.
I'll hang off is this is not the correct profile X350XJR

The stems are different - for movements from 550 to 562, the 5501106 stem is used, but for the 563 to 565 the 563 stem is used.

You can see the physical difference here:

The pilot for the 563 is longer, and since the length of that pilot and the square portion of the stem determines how far into the movement the stem can go, the 563 stem will go further in that the 550 stem will. This is needed because of the longer travel of the stem in the quick change movements, as they have 3 positions for the crown instead of just 2.

Now I don't normally spend my day using the wrong parts in watches just to see what will happen, but based on how the calendar and setting works, my guess would be that you won't get all 3 positions to work, and the watch may not be able to be wound using the crown. I'm not sure what site is listing the 550 as being used on the 563, but I would suggest Omega didn't make 2 designs just for fun...

    Cheers, Al

You're so free with your knowledge, its so gratifying to have (and thats all of us) the advice of a skilled professional.
I was already to measure up with the vernier callipers, and from the original set the crown.
    you're so good..........
