I have been using a number of the great threads within the site and other references to learn more about the SM 300s. There is one listed on eBay that looks pretty correct to me. I’m curious if others agree or are seeing things I’ve overlooked?

Is the rotor scrapping a bit? Seconds hand a replacement?

    - It’s a caliber 550, making it a US delivered watch
    - Serial in 24xxxx, dates it around 1966
    - Dial, caseback and bezel look period correct

Link isn't working, but I found it on eBay.
Hands could be original; they age in mysterious ways. Case and caseback look nice. Movement could use a cleaning/service. There is evidence of rotor rub, but that's not uncommon on these, and may have been corrected: current rotor looks pretty good. Bezel seems intact, which is not always the case. Biggest question for me is the dial: lume appearance is a matter of personal taste, but there are scratches on dial or crystal. Sure would be nice to see the dial without a crystal in front of it.

Agreed. I would really like to see the dial in some better light. Appreciate the input.

I ended up scooping this up today. It will be interesting to see how the dial looks in person and in better light. I thought it was worth the chance overall. Obviously patina is in the eye of the beholder, but I liked the overall look of this.

Very nice, I've always fancied one of these, but most of the ones I've seen over here have had shot bezels...

SM300 arrived and off to the watchmaker for service. Snapped a few shots before it was dropped off. Apologies for the photo quality. One negative is the bezel cracked at 15 minute mark, but it seems to be stable.

Very nice - I love mine and it’s my go to vintage watch. The link didn’t work, would you mind sharing how much you paid for it? I’m just curious as I’ve seen a wide price range for these, even for the “normal” non big triangle versions...

Thanks Gents. I agree the price range seems to be pretty wide for these at the moment. Is their an equivalent SM300 price guide like there is on Speedmaster101.com for Speedy’s? I’m happy to start compiling recent sales and posting if that would help.

Good deal. I’ll take a look back over the last 12 months and see what I can compile across a number of sites/forums/auctions/eBay/etc. Open to any input on the type of data needed for each sale (case back reference, was a bracelet included?, link to sale, etc). What else am I missing?

To go along with the condition factor the date/no date and big triangle vs not also play a role in the disparity in pricing. And all that is before you talk about the bezel.

Back from service with a new crown and crystal. Put it on a 1039 bracelet. If only I could take some decent pictures.

May be a stupid question but did the watchmaker managed to get it waterproof ? (Yes I know it’s a naiad crown so...)

I believe the shape of the hands, sword or candle stick, had an impact on the price too

Yes, he said it passed the water testing but cautioned against swimming with it. So a bit conflicting.
