A true Classic. I love the rugged elegance of this time-worn Masterpiece. Sits on my wrist with just enough snugness not to move, yet not tight. Olongapo bracelet with US Armed Forces Deep Diver 1st Class symbols (Copy).JPG Dial with nice patina with first gen. Candlestick Hands (Copy).JPG

Appears used as intended with an Olongapo Bracelet, US Navy/Marine 1st Class Deep Diver symbols.

Much nicer metal working than a lot I've seen on the net. I would think, then, it is of the period, also. The newer versions seem done by non artists, quickly.

I think this one hits all the Originality bullet points....am I missing anything?

    Year 1966, Cal 550, ref # 165024 (no break)

Very cool, especially like the combination of the Navy Diver custom bracelet and the patina, really looks the part

Very cool. Do you have any details from the original owner, like where the watch was purchased ?

I was also impressed to find this combo of bracelet and watch, also. Just to know it was used as a dive watch in the Armed Services is pretty cool provenance.

His name was engraved into the inside of the buckle area.

I have emailed Omega to get the forms(online restricts USA delivery for some reason) for a Archive Extract.....but since it is a Cal 550, it was delivered to the US.

I purchased this 165.024 a while back from a retired USN diver. Also a cal 550.

    Joe K,

When all is said and done, and the initial excitement subsided, was/is it worth the $90 to know the Date of Production?

That is the only new information since all Cal 550 were sent to the US.

I'll probably send for the letter, but it's hard wrapping my head around the sparse new info for $90.

Is the paper stock at least nice and heavy for framing?

Paper stock is heavy enough for framing.
For me, the main reason for getting the extract was peace of mind, since there are so many "put together" SM300. At least I know that the serial number is correct for a 165.024

And such a well maintained movement. Movement as bought, serial number photoshopped out (Copy).JPG
