Here is my newly acquired 165.024 and I love it. I had a 165.014 before but didn't really wear it at all. Am I right in thinking this is all original? Any advise on an independent service in the U.K.? Cheers
STS ( swiss time services ) speak to Simon you can't go wrong there .forgot to say only have the movement serviced leave the rest of the watch the way it is .
Don't see the harm in helping people do you ? If more people were to help each other the world wouldn't be in the mess it's in . Would you rather the watch went to a back street butcher how didn't know what he was doing then butcher a lovely vintage piece . Sorry I would prefer to help my fellow man . Think we have covered everything here don't you .
Congrats. Need movement serial number (at least the 5 first digits) to assess if parts belong together. All parts look autentic, but bezel properly isn't the type this one left the factory with. Serial will tell us more.
Thanks for your help. My go to guy would be John Senior but I understand he isn't taking on any work at the moment. I had my 165014 serviced by STS but it took 3 months so I'd like to avoid that if possible. Cheers
Hi Kox I did wonder about the bezel was most guides show I should have flat top 1 bezel and this would be a fat font rounded triangle.(if I'm correct). My serial no is 2420**** so can I assume this is a service replacement? Cheers
Correct. Your bezel is mostly seen on 166.024's references and in some cases, very late 165.024's...and yours is a very early no-sub reference 165.024. It's not a service replacement bezel. It's still a correct vintage bezel for an SM300, just not for yours IMO. So yes, someone changed it along the way. Enjoy...
