Greetings,

I am new to the forum but a longtime collector. Just wondering if anyone could give me an honest estimate as to the resale value of this watch. I see them on the various sites ranging from a low of 5k to seemingly outrageous prices in excess of 20k. I totally understand the simple truth that it’s worth as much as someone is willing to pay but this range is obviously contingent upon many factors. The watch I have appears to be all original. Maybe replacement hands at some point but otherwise appears 10O% Omega e.g. original marked Omega crystal, original intact bakelite bezel, original 7912 bracelet will fit up to an 8 inch wrist #6 endlinks, even has the original springbars with the tiny button nub for removal. The dial has a really consistent orange patina and the lettering is equally strong and aged similarly in fact they almost appear to be gilt under light. The watch runs perfectly but only sets counterclockwise, loose Crown? Any advices on value would be appreciated it’s a recent acquisition and I am not sure whether I want to keep her. I’ve owned dozens of divers over the years old and nebut I must say this one has a certain wrist presence that is absolutely amazing.

Cheers!!!!

Given the overall condition and the condition of the bezel, much of the value is going to be in the bezel, so we'd really need to verify that it's original, and not a restoration. It looks good to me at first glance, but if you can post some macros, that might help some of the experts to be certain.

Same with the endlinks.

Lovely SM300, congrats. 'Scuse my naivety but if it's a "recent acquisition" doesn't that give you a decent idea of value??

The OP knows what he's doing. It's not very subtle. I just hope people do their due diligence and remember that new members have not been vetted.

Greetings,

It would seem so but in this case I happened upon it in a bit of good fortune, thus I believe it is worth vastly more than I paid for it.

Cheers

I’m far from an expert on these, but shouldn’t the numerals be white? Like the other text? In the pictures, they look the same faded tan as the. Indices. Which suggests to me a relume at some point, and they painted over the numbers as well.

if dirt, why is it only on the numbers?

They are not tan it’s a product of the lighting etc…. and look nothing like the patina on the dial lume. I louped the numerals and it they look well aged and consistent throughout.

Many thanks to the members of OF that have reached out and provided me with valuable information and expertise. I may be new to OF but have been a longtime member of TZ, RF and a frequent flyer on thE-Bay. From what I gather the variable value of this watch model is highly contingent on the condition of the bezel and the consensus is that this model s the original bakelite bezel. With that said any thoughts on what It may be worth. I obtained it for as they might say a song and a dance and in this case I hummed a few bars from “Ripple” and nodded my head in appreciation. Thoughts anyone?

Best,

Jeff
