Finally beginning to receive some of my serviced watches from my awesome watch specialist... starting with this gorgeous SM 3oo Feedback and comments would be sincerely appreciated
Thanks, Dennis Do you see anything of concern regarding originality or authenticity? (Nothing was changed or replaced during service... Is as purchased, plus a movement service and a light cleaning......)
Very nice - and appears to be in great shape! BTW, that's a great leather strap combo Any pictures of the caseback?
Thanks MyVintageOmega.... it is a stunning model from Omega, one of their best IMO, although i'm not a sports watch person
Thanks alam Although I do prefer SS bracelets... I wanted my SM 300 to look just like the one on the OVD I took some time out to take some more pics: and the caseback inside photo, taken by my watch specialist....
Thanks MSNWatch ..... Still looking for a 2913, though My watch specialist believes as much about the bezel as well. He's worked on a few confirmed Aldo bezel watches himself.
It has become harder and harder to find watches with intact bezels. It's also a good indicator of the overall condition of the watch - if the original bezel is intact, chances are the rest of the watch is also in excellent shape. Love the 2913s - the wait might be very long...
Generally the bezel is in much better shape than the rest of the watch. You can see dings and imperfections in the metal without a corresponding scratch or blemish in the black area of the bezel. The original bezels also have some degradation in the numbers and they are not a perfectly even white color. The number fonts also have some minor deviations from the original bezels.
Here's my 14755-1 for comparison. All original - also the bezel! And agree in the above mentioned tell signs - plus the shape of the black inlay must be very concave i.e slope down from inside to outside. Most redone's don't slope down correct, even Aldo's, althrough his are close. Enjoy your watch. The 1.gen SM300's are really some of Omega's finest designs IMO. /Kim
I've looked and looked, and can't see how you chaps are so confident its an Aldo - not suggesting I am disagreeing. I hate it when I fail at being educated...
It becomes a lot clearer if you have had both an original and an Aldo done bezel in your hands to examine. It becomes fairly easy to tell at that point. Pictures are usually not sufficient.
