As a beginner I want to own a Omega, no fake. Budget is pretty limited also, so I will have to accept not best condition and not most sought after model.
Now I found two offers which I suspect in terms of originality. Pictures are of not best quality. Sorry.

Someone of you specialists with an idea?
I'd really appreciate any piece if your ecpertise. Thank you.

    1) automatic 60's ?

Not sure about the first one, but the dial of the second one has definitely been redone. I suspect the first one, too.

First one has photographs that were taken with a potato, I'd pass on it.

Second one is a redial with no movement shots. Not something I would buy.

I think the dial on the first one is original. However, all the gold plating on the crown has worn off and I think I see some rotor scrape on the caseback. The watch is too dirty to assess the condition of the case, but the plate loss on the crown is not a good sign. Too risky with those photos.

There are cheap vintage Omegas and there are good vintage Omegas, but the two do not often happen together. Also, vintage watches need to be serviced (= revidiert) before wearing, and this cost must be factored in.

Hi @winulf, and welcome to OF.

Like you, I'm still quite new at this. If you don't mind me making a wee suggestion, my advice is to stay the heck away from eBay - for the time being. Be patient, read all you can here on OF, pay close attention to WRUW on the 'Open Forum' thread and if you must pull the trigger, do it on the Private Watch sales thread. Just be patient. Did I mention patience? :D

Noob tax is a legendary tuition fee which will be precluded by a bit of self-education. Like this, for starters:

In all honesty, I'm being a bit hypocritical regarding the patience advice. But the caveat is I got lucky. After only 2 weeks on OF, I bought my first vintage watch (a '63 linen dial Seamaster 30). The research I did, in combination with feedback from the experts indicated it was worth the plunge; it's not cosmetically perfect by any stretch but I love it all-the-same. The pristine 286 movement, on the other hand, is what had my watchmaker crowing. That alone made it a great first foray into this crazy and addictive world. Now I'm onto the Speedmaster thing, heaven help me. JUST DON'T GET INVOLVED IN THOSE YET. YOU'LL BE SORRY. :p
