Speedmasters have been thin on the ground recently. To scratch an itch I bought a 145.005 Seamaster Chrono a few weeks ago and several days ago ended up with this.

It's so far out of my comfort zone but I did what I could and well, here we are.

The movement looks nice. Better than the pictures show. Correct 286 calibre. Caseback was a pig to remove so might have been in place for some time. Caseback shows ref 135.007-64.

    Case has clearly been polished.

Now we come to the dial. I referenced several similar examples and the font looks correct. Furthermore, under 10x magnification the text looks to be good quality. However, around the applied hour markers the finish doesn't seem flat. Almost has a meniscus around the hours markers. Big red flag? Redial?

I've literally just collected from the post office. The crystal is covered in scratches, but there is a mark on the dial as well.

Clicked post by mistake before I'd finished. Not even had any gin tonight!

In fact, it has been polished to the point where it is actually clear, along with the dial ;)

Pics in daylight may be better.

Anyone have an opinion as to whether the dial is original or not?
