Good morning, I have a small mystery to solve. I own a Seamaster 30 ref. 135.007-63 with a dial featuring Arabic numerals. Recently, I came across a listing for another Seamaster 30 with an identical dial to mine, but the caseback reference on that watch is 135.003-62. I would like to know if it is possible to find the same dial with two different references (strange), and if not, in your opinion, what is the correct reference for this dial? Could someone have fitted the “wrong” caseback? Thank you very much for your attention.

It’s not strange to see the same ref with different dials, or the same dial on different references.
The reference number purely relates to the case, not the dial.

Hi, thank you very much for your reply! I wasn’t aware that the reference referred exclusively to the case. So, are there the main lines (Seamaster, Speedmaster, etc.) divided into models (Seamaster 300, 30, 600, 120, etc.) and for each model specific case types?

Yes but each model may have a number of references.
For instance the seamaster 120 has 4;
135.027 manual wind no date
136.027 manual wind with date
165.027 automatic no date
166.027 automatic with date.

So to be accurate the reference number relates to the case style and movement type, but not the dial.
