This is an interesting piece with a compelling write-up, but is it accurate? I think 1956 is too early for a hippocampus case back? Any other comments or concerns worth noting? I do like coffin markers but something feels off. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...akeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:enPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Hippocampus is from circa 1958. Dial is refinished and watch may be frankened with earlier 471 movement. Regardless too many suspicious aspects.
Case body plus crown and movement look original for a SM olympic (Melbourne), but the case back does not match - should have the Olympic cross emblem! Dial is similar with the coffin markers but misses the applied golden "XVI" - seems to be a franken... I will gladly stand corrected if somebody has better knowledge.
