    Hi all,

Looking for some info regarding the crystal on a 1956 2848. Pics below. Would this have had a signed Omega crystal originally? If so, does anyone have the number? And would it have been as domed?

It’s in for a service now, so wondering if it’s worth replacing the generic with an authentic.

    Thanks!

The originals had a very low dome while all modern replacements I've seen are more boxy. Here are two Seamasters with new & old crystal:

You could try Ofrei.com, many Omega references share that crystal. I stopped worrying about the signed crystal a few years ago.

Keep an eye out on eBay. I recently found a nos pz5005 crystal on eBay for my seamaster after several months of searching.

Assuming tension rings on these can be swapped?

Patience indeed. I bought one off ebay two days ago and had been waiting quite a while for one to come up at a reasonable price.

Pretty sure these aren’t glued in… but pager @Archer to confirm?
