Hello all. Can I get an evaluation on this Seamaster 2577 cal. 354 bumper please. The case is obviously polished fairly heavily. Opinions on the dial? I'm always wary of black dials but this looks decent to me. There's a troubling spot near the two o'clock marker. The movement looks clean but how difficult is it to source parts for these watches should they be needed? This would be a daily wearer so not looking for high collectibility. Provided the dial is original what would a reasonable price to pay for this watch be, assuming a needed service? Thanks as always.
Looks ok to me. Personally fond of engraved black dials; this one is better than most. Shouldn't be any problem finding movement parts yet. In other words, don't put off servicing for too long. My valuation is likely to be much higher than most anyone else's because these specimens are my cuppa tea: $1500. Over the top, maybe . . . but you won't even think about the cost when it's on your wrist. Cordially, Art
Nice dial, gold filled case, I think should be well under US$1k, IMO, but admittedly hsven't priced these recently.
there are luminous hands - but I cannot see any lume in the recesses of the markers.... Shouldn´t this be a red flag?
Hi, Erich, Here's an American issue of similar vintage (Ω ref 2849 / US ref KX6275) with similar hands and no lume in the markers. The above photo was taken after servicing. The cleaning process eliminated the lume which had lasted six decades. [image taken prior to service] Best, Art
