You would be surprised how often the seller indicates that the dial is refinished, and people still post threads here asking if it's a redial.
I understand. Seller says never repainted but i just thought the dial looked too good. Anyhow thanks.

OK, after reading his post, I assumed that maybe @Spruce had found the listing and noticed something in it.

Good idea but the OP hasn’t posted any link so I merely gave the standard advice.

It’s understandable to feel balkish when there are so many basket cases out there. Seeing one in good shape can raise an eyebrow to both the newly initiated and veterans, but once you know what to look for you will be able to spot any issues quickly.
On the one you posted above, I see no issues with which I am concerned. The details are what tell you typically if it’s real or not.

Font looks good with serifs (those usually don’t get copied at all on a redial), G has the overbite (depending on generation you will see an under or overbite) the M is correct in Automatic and the sunburst pattern on the dial looks great (another thing that usually doesn’t survive a redial)

Bigger bottom S which is correct, the angle of the slash on e is correct. the m has 3 legs and not a 4th swoop which of often seen on redials, the s is flat-backed and has thr correct kick on the r.

The spacing of Swiss Made varies on a few of these, I’ve seen them tighter together, but the 31 second between SS and 29 second over the second leg of M is one I have seen many times- the font is also correct- this is usually the big tell on a redial- they commonly get it wrong

As far as case, the radial brushing on the bezel is very nice, not polished to a nub nor ham-fistedly reapplied too heavily if it has been refinished- this looks factory to me. Lugs look like they have seen a polish before (which is common and fine for a vintage piece) but edges are still well defined and not a pat of butter.

I think this looks like a nice watch. If it has been redialed then it fooled me, and I want the phone number of the guy who did the work.

Thanks so much for your opinion on the watch. The pointers you have given are most helpfull.

My pleasure. When you look at enough of them you see the commonality, almost like a signature- so when one isn’t quite right, you can feel it- then drilling into the details you see the problems. There were changes in some of the details over the very long run these watches have been made (changes to the S and r, slight changes in shape of the O etc), and there were a few different vendors who made dials for Omega, so there are variations- but they are very consistent and easy to find other comparable examples from the same period.

I think we’re now back to where we were at 11.32 on Friday - can we go round again? 😀

On this one i can't work out if this dial has been painted. It just looks too clean. Thanks

The dial looks clean enough to think it is 100% legit. Thank you for sharing this pic!
