I just landed this beauty and was hoping to find some info on it... there's very little out there. The cal. 570 was discussed in an earlier thread here, but not in a 14733 case, and the OVD places the cal. 570 in a different case... Can anyone shed some light? I adore the bezel, seperately attached in YG to match the markers and the crown: And couldn't resist how sharp the case and back were: The movement seems quite clean and maintained: The caseback-inside makes it a Centrale Boîtes S.A. manufactured case, but obviously beacause of the OXG on the movement, it must be a national production? Anyone?
Interesting! Don't think I've seen a gold bezel on SS lugs before. It actually works very well. Would like to see that on: - SS bracelet - gold bracelet - two tone bracelet!
Absolutely! They all would work, wouldn't they!! Unfortunately, I couldn't find any reference to which bracelet and end links combintation would go with this case Hoping to find help here as always, though!
I've found that any end links will work (if not perfectly) provided that they match the bracelet (e.g 9 v 7 row bor), are right width and are right vintage! The two bor bracelets I have I didn't get end links to match the case numbers, but they still worked.
I'll definitely give that a try... I was also thinking of the flat link SM 300-type bracelet... I guess those would add a different flavor
I'm actually still not sure of the bracelet size yet, but you're right... it does seem like an 18mm end link will be needed. I just really like that "flat link" look, and I believe there are ones which can take 18mm end links.... not really sure?
My guess is that this watch was produced specifically for export to the USA, but it is not a national production model. Omega steel cases (well, mostly steel here) were generally Swiss Made, but the cal. 570 movement is only 17 jewels. The tariff on steel cases wasn't nearly as high percentage-wise as that for gold back then. National production refers to the case being made and movement adjustments being performed in the country in which the watch is sold. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
Here's the watch with one of your recommended bracelets, Canberra. Just received from my watch guy after a service. Better late than never, huh!
I am not big fan of BOR bracelet, but I must admit that the two tone BOR match well in your watch. I think it is because of the gold 'rice' part of BOR match the gold 'rice' markers there while the steel part of BOR blend well with the steel lugs. A winner combination
Sorry for the Lazarus thread but I was in a watchmaker's shop this afternoon and he's consigning 14733 with 570. It, too, is on a BOR. I would have sworn they were the same watch but the serial numbers are different. The one I saw today also has the box. The owner is asking an ambitious $2000. It has been serviced, with a service crown. Trying to decide if I want to make an offer but not sure what the offer should be. I was thinking $800-$900 but that may be too low. Thoughts? I have a photo of the case back and movement but nothing on the dial and case.
I think the watch is legit/correct in this combination and I'd give it a try for 1.200 - 1.500, depending on the overall condition. Hope that helps. Edit: Add some bucks for the box... Didn't read this at first.
