Looking for any information on the unusual numbering on the rear of the caseback of my Seamaster 145.029. Sellers pictures first:

    Front.jpg Back.jpg

The numeric "1108" on the back of the case seems unusal to me. It doesn't correlate to the movement serial. Without an extract I can't be sure the movement is original to the watch, but its serial (3220xxxx) puts it in the correct range.

Any facts (or theories) on the 1108 numbering would be appreciated!

Fascinating ... so definitely not a unique thing. Hopefully more information to come!

Mine was purchased from a seller in Germany— where was yours?

Maybe country codes in an early effort to stop grey market selling?

Prefix of 10XX could be Britain, 11XX seems to indicate Europe.

Perusing the internet I’ve now found a third numbered caseback -1118. So now we have 1011, 1108, and 1118.

Maybe the Venezuelan retailer or importer in the 70’s , I saw some Franken hard metal case with speedmaster dial and on the back exactly the lettering .
