I saw this 14 K RG Seamaster came up in a local blog. I found it unusual because it has gold dial, which I only know in SMPP so far for vintage Seamaster line.
Unfortunately this specimen dial is a redial and has corrosion , which make me pass it (unless someone here advice me otherwise).

However I am still curious on what this watch all about. Its caseback reference is 118 391/ 2848/ 2846 SC and its movement is 501. I can not find any match in OVD.
    Is its also a franken?
    Any information is appreciated......

    Kind Regards......

    Hi Privateday,
unfortunately the pics are not optimal, so I can`t definitely say, that the dial is repainted. Several years ago,I had a similar Seamaster 2846/2848 with gold coloured dial (solid gold?) and gold hour markers in a 14 Karat case, caliber 501.
The case seems to be original. It`s an early Seamaster, dated middle of the fifties without a seamonster on the caseback. The seamonster appeared first around 1958. The movement number should be around 11.000.xxx.
The overall condition of the watch is not good in my eyes, so I would not purchase this watch!.
    Regards, Reiner

Thanks Reiner. I would love to see your watch picture.
Yes I would not buy that watch, I am just curious that there are solid gold dial (or gold coloured dial as you said) Seamaster outside SMPP like Ashley's. I suspected it is a redial because the cross hair does not pass the Omega logo in center and the minute markers are uneven. The lume dot in the hour markers, I suspected not original, too.
The worst part of course the corrosion on dial surface.

    Sorry Privateday,
I sold my Seamaster years ago,I think to purchase another Connie.
But if you want to see three 2846/2848 models, look at page 285 in the book "Omega-A yourney through time" from Marco Richon. IMG_0838[1].JPG

2846 is the SC version of the watch, 2848 has Subseconds. They use the same back. Both watches are found in the Omega Vintage Data Base. Here's two of my 2846 2846.jpg aaa_57.jpg

These are seller pics of a SM Grand Luxe 2846/8 cal. 501 I picked up recently which I believe also has a solid gold dial:

and pics contributed by X350 XJR of the dial and dial back of the same model, when discussing this watch:

Nothing is mentioned about this style in the OVD. I believe it is a Norman Morris production.

You have exquisite taste, that pink gold seamaster with pearls coupled with the waffle seamaster are the two most beautiful Seamasters i've probably ever seen. :)

Can anyone tell me the type of strap that middle Seamaster has? It's a lovely contrast on pure Steel.

Looks like either some type of lizard or a pigskin strap.

Yep, the color at least is the classic pigskin color.

Thanks Steve, now I know what it should be like if it was not redialled. Your RG is great.

Well... the dial is gold but the case isn't, and I don't collect gold-cap for my own reasons :)

I most definitely can get out of that habit... if you're willing to give one of your SMSPP a new home :whistling:
