Seamaster 105.005-65 Dial

Hello friends, I came across this vintage Seamaster w/ a 321 at an auction house. I'm wondering if anyone can tell if the dial is original. I'm sorry for the terrible pictures but this is all I or anyone else has to work with. I'm OK with the dial condition as long as it's not a redial as I'm really seeing the value in owning a cal.321. Other than that, the movement and bracelet looks like they are in nice shape. In it's current condition, what should be my max bid?

First one second glance told me it's a redial, didn't do any further checking.

Thank you. It did look "off" to me also but didn't have much experience on these. Would it be difficult to find an original dial (not necessarily perfect) assuming the rest of the watch was original?

Yes. But its doable. Just a matter of if its worth your time. Case and movement look fine.

It will take months/years to find a dial rather than days/weeks.
Once your time is taken into consideration it’s usually much cheaper and easier to simply buy one with an original dial in the first place

I am with David. In my experience it is difficult or impossible to source an appropriate dial for something like that, and you could have a disappointing piece for a long time. Just find a nice one and enjoy it.

I'm curious what the auction house said when you asked them this question.
I have asked the auction house for clarification in the past and they just say, sorry, this is all we have. I think it is because of their volume, they aren't super attentive, but I have purchased from there before (at a great strike price) with their poor resolution pictures, a speedy moonphase. It arrived to me near mint so I was happily surprised and I feel I got a great deal.

The auction house does try to list obvious redials, but this one did not have that notice. Though I would prefer and Ed White, I would be happy spending less on a SM 321. I appreciate everyone's expertise and input! Thank you OF!

Sometimes it's worth taking a chance, despite what others say. This watch was discussed here on the forum based on very poor quality auction photos. Most of the reviews were "redial" but I bought it anyway and it's not a redial. I'm grateful because I got it at a good price.

At first I thought you were saying you bought the OP watch and this is what it looks like, and I almost fell of my chair! But then I realized your watch doesn't have anything to do with the OP watch.
Some watches are not worth taking a chance on, I think the OP watch is one of these.

I thought the OP's topic had been exhausted, because in this case the problem is obvious. My post is more to encourage that the problem is not always obvious, as some people think.
