You should also know that the "666" style caseback was found on the later production watches from the mid 6 mil onto very early 8 mil 1665s. Yes, there are some very early 8 mil 1665s out there!

X2..

These watches were fetching over $10k many years ago and this one looks in exceptional condition.

BUT I would never buy off Chrono24...

It is very possible that the watch was produced circa 1981 and sold in 1984. Depending where it was sold initially, it was not uncommon that watches sat on the shelf for a couple of years before they were sold. Add the fact that the Sea-Dweller was not a popular model as it was quite a bit more expensive than the popular Submariner.
The serial... it's not 81! You can see in the doc bucklet the number

So it's possible... have no idea

What do you mean its not 81?

A 7.2 mil serial, based on the pic, falls in an approximate year production of 1981-82.

According to some of my records falls in 82-83... in years that I was thinking that the 1665 did not exist anymore

Pedantic maybe but for that money I'd want one with the hands aged a much closer match to the dial

You mean production serial 84? 1665 stopped in 81

I mean year (this is what the vendor is advertising the watch as...a 1665 from 1984!).

I think the next step would be to ask for pictures of the papers and ensure papers are also original.
The bezel insert and maybe also the hands look newer than the dials darker patina but sure looks like a nice watch.
Good luck with it all.

I wouldn't call it mint. Even though it's in a very good condition, I'm not convinced it hasn't been polished before. Also as mentioned the hands n insert might have been replaced. The price is high for this particular watch.

I blame it on the autoconnect.
