Technos Sky Light for $100:

Vs. Omega Constellation Pie-pan in a C case (which never existed).

And

The Sky Light even has faux onyx markers, like some later Constellations.

Yeah, suck it, Rolex. This is my version of a small crown Submariner.

The itch was so thoroughly scratched that I've stopped looking for a 1655 and sold my modern Explorer 2.

Heck yeah.

Similar story. I bought a Tudor Submariner (ref. 79090) almost 10 years ago after a holding a buddies 1680. Now, I fully admit the Tudor isn't considered affordable anymore, but I'm still in love with it and the itch for a Rolex Sub doesn't exist.

I have loved the looks of these…until I see a profile shot. Why does Tudor use a hockey puck as the template for their watches??

It's definitely chunky, but not overwhelmingly so.

I was falling hard for the BB58 and GMT but every time I see the side of the case it’s just a big no from me. It’s too bad.

That’s a pitty. The standard BB58 they actually got right at just shy of 12mm thick. The others are all around 14-15mm which is just so damn thick. I got rid of several watches that were cuff hangers like that as I just didn't wear them….and I got tired of repainting door jambs.

A thread to our budget conscious collectors. To all aficionados who settle for less.

Because sometimes you can't afford the real thing. But you need something, maaan. A substitute is better than nothing, right?

I'll start.
I could not afford an Omega Seamaster 600 with and Arabic dial...

...so instead, I bought a Leijona with an Arabic dial ($30)

Post your Affordable Alternatives, vintage or modern!
It never worked for me in a long run. So I just saved and got lucky to own what I wanted. Well, not everything. It is good to have targets for for the future.

Black dial & twisted lugs, the UG Polerouter sure is beautiful. Credit to @Mazoue for the pic.

But Camy is only $100 and a superautomatic!

I remember when you could get a Polerouter like that for under $1K. Then the dealers did their dealer thing.
