Scratch on anti-reflective coating?

    hello,

I’m new to this site and also new to watches. Recently I found a marking on my new Aqua Terra but I’m not sure if it’s a scratch on the glass itself or if the anti-reflective coating is peeled off. It’s the shiny spot close to the 4pm marker.

Can anyone tell me what it is and how can I fix it? Thanks.

Looks like the AR coating. You can tape off the bezel and remove the coating with polywatch

It looks a bit like a bit dog dribble or a spit spot that's dried.
Have you tried to clean it off with a little rub and some dish washing liquid and a nice clean/new dish cloth and warm water.
I recommend you try that, and dry it off then report back.

I would recommend trying some eyeglass cleaner - I've found that some stubborn water spots on AR coated crystals will come off using that and I soft micro-fiber cloth.

If it an actual mark in the AR, the only remedy other than living with it is remove the outer AR coating (I use diamond paste for this) or get the crystal replaced.

    Cheers, Al

How can you tell the difference between the 4am marker and the 4pm one?

    Just kidding :D

May I know what year is your watch? I found the older AR coating (as late as 2015) is prone to scratch. The newer sapphire with AR coating (bought a brand new Omega in 2017) has much higher resistance.

This model only comes out around 2017 I think. Will the warranty cover this? Its probably not a watermark, as it’s not coming off. Must be scratch on the AR from somewhere, although I don’t exactly know how it got there

I don’t think the warranty covers the AR coating due to a scratch. But it wouldn’t hurt to call them and ask.
