A non-techie lady friend of ours is returning to Scotland due to the recent passing of a close relative.

Her PC recently died and I've suggested a Microsoft Surface 2 to replace it (most PC like tablet etc).

She will need mobile internet access and a phone to use.

I can give her our Nokia we got in Glasgow and she can get a prepaid SIM for it.

I've suggested she also gets a mobile WIFI dongle/hotspot.

She doesn't want to use a multi device (iPhone 6 etc) so it's a "PC" and a phone.

Any Wee Jocks able to offer advice on best providers to look at, devices that would suit, coverage around Banff, Macduff area, any other tips?

And above all, it has to be "value for money" ;)

    Cheers

    Jim

If she is going to Scotland she'll also need to hire a beagle, no sense looking like a tourist.

    Damn!

Annie just saw that pic of the Beagle Boys.

    Now she wants one

Can I tell her they cost more to maintain than my watch habit?

    :D

The surface 2 is really to small to work as a laptop replacement. I have the dell venue 11 (same size as surface 2) and just recently purchased surface 3 due to size of screen. Surface 3 is amazing. It works great as a laptop replacement.

Hold on, I thought this was about lapdog replacements . . . it was tough enough working out how beagles fit in . . .

You have to be careful, these Beagles are canny wee lads. They can divert a thread at the drop of a bone.

    Jim,
If your lady friend is amenable to sitting on an old Scotsman's knee I don't mind helping her out ;)
Seriously, home now and will do a quick check for you, "3" used to be pretty good in that area but will see what I can come up with.

I can see where a noobie might be confused, but we do have a long standing tradition here.

Thanks Stewart H - it wasn't really the Beagle that concerned me. . . . . the top of laps though and a Scotsman's knee . . ::facepalm1:: . . . . clearly I've a lot to learn about this forum - it can get a bit Alpha as well as Omega on occasion

Just as I suspected - it wasn't the Beagle after all, thanks for clearing that up though
