Greetings folks. Here we have an early 1940's dial, I'm not good with these black ones but I don't like the G.

    Opinions please.

I don't like the 'O'. To me, it looks like a '0' zero turned on the side.

IMO this dial may well be original despite of the bleeding into the subdial of the numeral 7 which is quite common...

A good tell are the small white >snow flakes< on the black which are common on older black dials.

From the photos I can´t tell for sure if the dial is printed or a galvano sandwich dial (commonly know as gilt dial) which would explain the blurred script and seconds track... but more probably it is printed judging from the last photo on which the script looks clearer...

I lean towards original - it is a very old watch (has a 26.5 inside), so no wonder if it slipped through quality control at that time...

    just my 2 cents

Didn't Omega have quality control checks in the 1940s? The "G" looks very unusual indeed.

I give you an example for the generous quality control in those days:

    AML_accent.jpg

would you ever consider this as original?

    uneven hair line
    wonky omega wording
    oval O
    uneven A in Omega

    etc.

whether you believe it or not
This is a highly magnified section of a dial from a NOS chronometre OT 2364 from 1947

Mac, I take your point. Nevertheless, the "G" looks really funny to me.

I tend to also think that it is original and very nice. Of course judgement on a picture is always subject to a certain error margin...

Agree that the "O" and "G" look wonky.
