Yesterday, a supposed member of the forum told me he was interested in buying my watch. I noticed that his profile had no posts and that he had registered just yesterday. He said he lived in Hong Kong and would make the payment right away. I was suspicious, and today he sent me another direct message with the same text as yesterday.

I don't know if this is the right thread to warn forum members, but hopefully this will be helpful. The "member" is squingxu.

Thanks,

Ernesto.

I can't tell based on your post if this is a problem or not. I have had new members buy watches from me in the past, and it was not a scam. In fact, I originally joined the forum to buy a watch. Unfortunately, someone else beat me to it.

If he actually sends you funds by a reliable payment method, I don't see any issue.

Of course! What makes me doubt is that first he sent me an email address so I could send him the payment request, then he told me he couldn't access his email because he had to certify it and sent me another one. I sent him the payment request and he didn't reply. Today I received a new message saying that he was interested in my watch and asking if I could send it to Hong Kong, exactly the same text as the day before. I'm just mentioning it as a precaution.

That sounds more suspicious.

Yesterday I received a PM from the same member the OP named.
The header and body message were exactly the same, reading simply "Does your watch support delivery to Hong Kong? I really like it."
I replied asking for more specificity, but have yet to receive a reply.

When a new member with zero post history sends interest in a watch without specifying which watch, I'm inclined to regard it as disingenuous, to put it politely.

Cheers,
-GW

I received the same message from the same member even though my add says U.S. only.

Another scam attempt today, here are the tell signs modus operandi ;

  • new user, will pay immidiately with PP no questions asked
  • usually from Hong Kong
  • will post his email which is a LINK , so dont click on it !!
  • Email looks something like ; cmd234xxx ( so letters/numbers ) @ gmail
  • a strange shipping address is given like ; RM 803,B2,HANG WAI IND CEN
  • Google that and you will see a known blocked website : Menglin Meetdog etc

Stay Safe !

And one from Chrono24, shocking that the C24 Ai software didnt pick up on these fake/Ai pics from the seller.
The requested time stamp pic does not show the correct time, and the bezel is turned to the left. This Ai stuff makes it to easy to create pictures so C24 should update there security. Already reported to them this morning.
