    Hi everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying your weekends. I'm new to the forum having recently become increasingly into (Omega) watches. I have picked up a few Speedmasters, and quite to take delivery of an interesting one this morning: a Schumacher Racing (3559.32.00) with a nice 'Paul Newman' panda dial and date aperture at 6.

Condition is bit worse than expected from the online listing, with a (superficial) scratch on the crystal and some reasonably-sized dings to the bezel and lugs. The price was probably fair at around £5800 inc box and papers, spring guard tool and extra leather strap. There don't seem to be many around.

I think I am ok with the dings to the steel, but the sapphire crystal scratch catches the light at certain angles. It looks very superficial and I'm a bit torn now.

Do you think it'd polish out? Any recommendations for UK repair / approx prices for a new crystal (if required) +/- new bezel? If I got them replaced, might I be as well to send to Omega for a full service? Finally, am I devaluing it in replacing original parts? Grateful for any help - I'm a bit clueless about these things as my watches so far have been new/pretty much as-new condition.

The crystal scratch doesn't seem to have come out too well on iphone, but it's below the dial text in line with the chronometer hand!

Obviously, the watch's previous owner was a golfer. A scratch golfer. ::facepalm2::

Thanks. It seems to be functioning well so leaning towards dealing with replacing the crystal if needs be. Will hopefully get a quote through for that +/- OEM bezel in next couple days. Does replacing with OEM parts reduce value (hopefully not as it'd be the same thing), and is it better just to send to Omega for service plus these repairs?

Do you know if you could put the black bezel from ref. 3507.51.00 on it? I love the dial, but would prefer to replace the steel bezel ...

$628.00 for a replacement sapphire crystal? Am I reading that right? WTF, Swatch Group!?! Remind me not to crack the domed sapphire crystal on my Seamaster 300 - the only Omega with a sapphire crystal that I have in my collection. Viva la hesalite!

No way you will polish that crystal without distortions.

The crystal for yours is only about $200, so not quite so expensive...

Good to know, Al. The prices for OEM acrylic crystals have gone up too. I’ve replaced a number of them on my vintage Omegas.
