The pic below is from eBay. I am thinking I would like to install one of these on my 105.003. I have a 3572.50 ( I converted to a panda) and I just love looking at the movement.

I love how you can see the movement, this is an issue for me on the automatics because I cant see much of the movement.

I purchased a Thomas Priek Sapphire case back for my 321(make sure you order the correct one for your movement). It came with a perfect fitting spacer ring and all went on with out any hitch, nice snug fit. I enjoy admiring the workmanship in my 321.

Many people have them on this forum. I believe @Barking mad has a pretty cool photo with a whole bunch of cal. 321's lined up with Thomas Preik's casebacks.

I have one as well for my 145.022 and it's great. Definitely worth the money, the quality is superb. I had my doubts about it in polished steel thinking it would stand out and "disturb" the watch, but it doesn't. If you like looking at the movement BUY IT!!!!!!

I had these on my 145.012, I'm actually planning on putting one on the next 321 Pro case I get though.

I've also got a Thomas Priek on my 145.012 and can highly recommend both the quality and the effect.

My limited edition 20th anniversary Apollo XI from 1989. I am almost certain this was a standard model pulled from Omega stock, and the special back fitted. IIRC, it was limited to 2000 watches in that series. image.jpg

Thanks. I went to the Thomas Priek web site and they are actually having a sale. So this will be less expensive than I thought and much less than the ones offered on eBay.

Decided to update my pc to Windows 10, so will order one as soon as its done. Still trying to decide if I want brushed finish or polished.

    Thanks

This is an anniversary, not a standard, model. The 863 movement only goes in the display back models, and not the standard closed back ones. And I'm afraid your watch actually belongs to the un-limited series. The limited ones would have the limited series number engraved in the only space left on that back.

Display backs similar to yours sometimes come up on the market and I prefer it to the third party one.

Hmmm! I was told it was a limited edition when I bought it! Anyway, I did learn something about it. Thanks.

I do not see any mention on that page that it was not unlimited or any estimate number of production. http://chronomaddox.com/omega/tables/mr/speedy_history_cm.html#ST_145.0808

MWO says "unlimited" and not as sought after as the limited. Nice watch regardless.

And while we're referencing Chuck, there's his page about customed display back: http://chronomaddox.com/displayback.html

here's the part I meant to link to:

"Apollo XI 1969 for the rest of the world about 4.000 pieces produced on leather strap (ST 145.0022.100 - PIC 3890 B, then 3890.50 since 1990) or on steel bracelet (ST 345.0022.100 ‚̬̄ PIC 3590 B, then 3590.50 since 1990)"

Edit: direct link to the 1989 section: http://chronomaddox.com/omega/tables/mr/speedy_history_cm.html#1989

That's a different watch which doesn't have the display back but has Apollo XI 1969 engraved on the left side of the case. Everything else is the same as the standard Moonwatch including ref 145.0022 and movement 861. Canuck's watch is 145.0808/345.0808 with 863 calibre (just cosmetically different from the 861).

Your picture doesn't seem to show it, but does your watch have any number in the circled area below?

I plan to purchase my first Speedmaster and also like to view the movement. I want hesalite over sapphire. So my question is, should I look for a 3572, or simply find a 3570 + Thomas Preik display back? I like the look of the actual Omega display back better; but the benefit to going with the Preik is I'll always have the actual Speedmaster case back.
