·Hello forumers.
Which of you is superstitious? I don't know what it's like in other cultures, but here in Europe many people believe that the 13th falling on a Friday brings bad luck. Many people would prefer not to get out of bed in the morning. I don't believe in this nonsense, on the contrary: such days have often brought me good luck in the past. Yesterday was no exception, as the 13th once again fell on a Friday. The postman brought me a parcel with eagerly awaited contents. I had bid on and won a gold Seamaster in an auction, which apparently had a ref. 7077 bracelet in 18K gold fitted. The item description read as follows:
So yellow gold...
When I unpacked the watch, my heart almost skipped a beat - the supposedly yellow gold watch and the bracelet were made of rose gold! As the hardcore collectors among you probably know, rose gold patinates to a yellowish tinge over a longer period of time. This is a sign that the watch has not been polished for a long time. If you then lightly polish it with a silver cleaning cloth, the true colour is revealed - as is the case here. The ‘specialists’ at the auction house have succumbed to the mistake that should really only happen to beginners - what luck for me! To make a long story short, here is the beautiful piece, a ref. 2849 with 7077 bracelet.
The right half of the bracelet is unpolished and still yellowish, the left half is slightly polished - I think you can see the difference quite clearly.
You know that 7077 bracelets are rare as henth´s teeth but finding one in rose gold is the jackpot.
A dream came true for me...
