I like having quick access to my collection of course the trade off is security. Do you guys use a safe for your goodies and if so (don't want to go too fancy here) any recommendations for $500 or less? Thanks.

Some are in a safety deposit box. Some are guarded by my in-home security company: Smith & Wesson.

Big safe bolted through the foundation = piece of mind, but more than $500.

    Safe. A big one.

(so it cannot be carried by less than six men)

    why not both?

A "good" safe can be had for 350ishUSD

PRO TIP: If you have a lot of extra (((space))) inside your safe, fill it with lead weights (Especially if you don't have the option of bolting to a concrete floor). Don't waste your time bolting to wood. a simple lever or crowbar and ((rip))). One man can carry a 125lb safe. get it up to 225ish and becomes impossible, even for one of those worlds strongest man dudes.

I know a lot more about safes and security than I do about watches.

Also if you smear a stick of butter all over it, it'll be even harder to pick up.

    But it will attract flies

Or you could smear it with barker's eggs and nobody would go near it.

Still have the problem with the flies though.

Or invest in a decent healthcare and education system for your society and actually reduce crime!

I have a sign in the window "Timex serviced here"......

    Criminals stay away in droves.

although one did come to the door and offer a donation.

Don't get me started. I have quite a few theories on how to severely reduce crime in America.
