Is it the real deal or a redial?

I only have a white dial in hand to compare it to, but I'm going with redial. But whoever is doing it has the correct fonts.

The S.58 looks pretty good, but the ZENITH wasn't done so well.

I haven't got a great head-on dial shot handy, and this is a piepan-ish dial to accommodate an automatic movement, but I think this more than makes the point

it looks ok to me the dial base is not redone so it can't be repainted. The markers are also not removed to get the base painted. Well over to experts....

Lou, this I think is a much later model with cal 2542 , the dial probably is for cal 120

Yes, it is. The flat-dialed manual models are hard to find - this is one from the ol' picture library from a cal 120 - font looks a hood deal finer than the one that started the thread.

The writing can smudge with time . Note the word Z , E and the setting of words T and H. All are the same as the one in your pictures .

I believe I am on record as thinking it is generally OK. I'd want to see a closer pic to commit myself definitively about the dial. It is reported to be a Hong Kong flea market find, and that's not a likely place to find an unmolested S.58. As with the thread-starter, the printing on this one is a bit "loud," shall we say.
