Rusty eBay 105.005-66 makes me sad

We’re all used to looking at these Seamaster 321s with bad dials, redials etc etc.

But this one just got to me. I can still see the nice watch it once was. Looks like a single catastrophic water event ended its useful life.

Were it mine, I’d leave it alone. What an interesting artifact as is!

Fare well, little 105.005-66...

oh you'd be surprised. there's a watch guru in Cebu city that would be able to get that thing fixed up and running. I seen some watch restorers in Italy that wouldn't be afraid of that project either. dollars to donuts someone will snag it and it will be running again. 😀

That's a great reason to try and figure out the serial #, so it can be added to the "watch out for this watch!" list.

500 Pounds for that?!?!? 😕

Decades ago I was advised that you get the best case you can because everything else can be fixed.

Here’s what that work on the poor 105.005 will look like.

Would its various 321 spare parts, etc. make it worth the money, especially down the track when there are no more parts available? In other words as a donor watch or a spare parts bin for watchmakers it would hold some value surely...

I would send it to Omega for a full restoration including a redialing if they can’t provide a new dial. I really don’t see the problem of doing this as the watch is already a goner.

Kudos to the seller. At least he is not trying to sugar coat its condition or over sell it. I guess a 500 pound starting price isn't the worst I've seen.

Nothing? I still look at cases first but honestly now with this Railmaster 57 LE, Seamaster 2254.50, and WatchCo (really from them) Seamaster 300, I have all of the fancy watches I need and I'm seriously considering selling off the vintage, except for my father's watch and perhaps the rose gold Lemania.
