I bet they felt crappy when the producers pitched that idea.

I wouldn’t have been surprised if they felt it was an excrement idea. :D

Watch was made very late 1977 September or later.

It is not a 1975. It’s a late production 145.022-76. The next sub reference is 145.022-78, there is no 77.

Looks like a well worn Speedy that would probably have lots of interesting stories to tell.

Indeed rather have one with some gunk / muck / dirt on it than an overpolished " beauty " ;)

Interesting story behind the watch - it was sold at auction on behalf of a charity, who received the proceeds of the sale. It was handed into the charity by a benefactor. Sounds too good to be true? But the auctioneer had the watch verified and the charity informed the benefactor prior to the sale it was a valuable watch - but he, apparently told them he wanted them to keep the watch and sell it. I mention this in the knowledge that some might be sceptical - but as far as I'm concerned, its a nice ending. The watch is running perfectly and I'll post some pics once serviced and polished ideally by Simon Freese - who is moving premises to a new shop in Westcliff-by-Sea BTW.

The watch came complete with a 1171/633 bracelet - so very happy with that!
