And wrist watch-wise ...
No manual winding Omega Speedmaster chronographs were noted strapped over their Sokol space suits on MS-21 launch day March 18, 2022
The last time we noticed a Soyuz mission with Omega Speedmasters was Soyuz MS-04 in April 2017...

Watches? This is a truly ballsy protest, give the belligerence of their boss. Were I them, I’d be asking NASA for a ride home.

I tried to stay with the theme of the forum. I applaud their balls and truly hope the neo Soviets will it go after their families for this. Also, it’s somewhat relevant given the boycott of the Swiss watch industry.
Couldn’t identify what they were wearing their. The guy on the right may have a Speedy??

As far as asking NASA for a ride home: that’s a problem since NASA doesn’t have a vehicle. Aside from whatever Elon Musk can provide. Which is all remarkable in and by itself. Did you know how many functioning space suits NASA has left? Four. And they’re ancient by now. There are many things that could be said about that that are non-watch related.

Curious to see if we’ll ever see a 3861 up there.

I dunno... I think people that go into space might be the toughest sons of guns going... maybe their next move is to reposition Ronald Regan's Star Wars Lasers at the Kremlin, at which point one of the towers will open to reveal a 50m tall clockwork ballerina, who will smother Vlad with 500 yards of tutu fabric, thus ending his reign of terror?

Say what? …..Elon Musk-led SpaceX was almost broke, with no way to turn around. The helping hand that pulled the pioneering company from this debacle came from US space agency NASA in the form of a $1.5 billion contract. SpaceX Is NASA. Give them some credit for smart outsourcing.

I like to follow Tesla, SpaceX, etc news I’m probably a bit of a Musk fanboy I was reading this yesterday it’s a bit a fluff but interesting. Both Tesla and SpaceX were near bankruptcy they are both interesting stories.

All space topics are very welcome here.
These brave men will be major assets for SpaceX. If Mars is still on Elon’s playbook, these international badass should to be on Elon’s radar. But Jesus. I hope they arranged an exit strategy for their family.

Not a political statement as the MS-21 mission logo, as always, has been created many months ago in the colors of the MBSTU - Moscow Bauman State Technical University
.

...
Edit: Before I get unpolite comments, here're the MBSTU and the Soyuz MS-21 logos side-by-side
(Source: Energia)

I guess protest in dangerous dictatorships has a long history of being rather subtle. If it’s safer to believe that this was coincidence/excess fabric/university colors, that’s perfectly fine.
I had a family member who spend 11 years in a prison and then a concentration camp (Mauthausen) for making a donation to the wrong kind of charity in the amount of roughly $1.50 and humming some song that came with different lyrics. Some family members even decades later believed that this wasn’t a form of protest - instead of seeing that his treatment was horrific either way. I don’t really have a cool watch story to connect to that, sorry. Nobody sent him a Rolex to time the guards walking up and down like in the movies.

They have been wearing these colors since many years already.
