As regular readers know, I have, on occasion, highlighted outrageously inaccurate claims found on the website of a well-known California vintage dealer. I rarely visit the site, yet sadly, I almost invariably (and quickly) find a new transgression when I do.

Setting aside the other painfully obvious "tells", this one is particularly pathetic given that Tritium wasn't used on watches until the 1960s, and this watch dates to the early '50s. ::facepalm2::

Here's a correct, original dial for comparison:

In summary, if you WANNA BUY A WATCH, tread very carefully at this establishment.

Unfortunately, the only platform to out this kind of bullshit is on watch forums, and that doesn't reach but a small percentage of the watch buying world. I'm really tired of having to tell n00bs that they didn't buy an original vintage watch because sellers like this are using semantics where they think that if the slab of metal is the original piece than repainting it still counts as an original dial. HOWEVER, this time the seller states "Original silver satin dial with printed numerals and Omega logo" which definitely includes the paint and ink, which is CERTAINLY not original from the factory as you rightfully pointed out.

@Tony C. - Isn't this the same guy who joined here and tried to convince everyone that you're observations on another one of his "original" dials was, in fact, refinished?

I don't recall him directly responding, but he apparently complained to the Mods, and to their credit, they allowed my (accurate) critical posts to stand.

It’s funny ... he’s one of the noob traps I discovered early on in this game. The other is that shop in Beverly Hills that does UG redial specials.

I bought a watch from this place well before I joined these forums and I'm almost afraid to ask what might be wrong with it.

I like that the listing says it is an "Omega Stainless Steel Automatic" then in the description it says it is powered by a manual wind movement.

That chrono dial looks fine to me. The markers are correctly spaced, there's nothing obviously clumsy and the respective digits look to have been printed from the same block, which rediallers find particularly difficult to replicate.

Good old mate @DrKen8465 and he blamed the assistant that looks at watches with the lights off if I recall
