A few snaps I took at the Royal Dockyard Portsmouth today. Nelson ship Victory along with one of Nelsons bed.

Leather goods found on the Mary Rose ship.

Nelson clearly liked a dram.

Some years ago I went there specifically to see HMS Victory in refurbishment and found a huuuuuuge queue of people lined up for something out of sight. What was it for? A Russian navy cruiser on a goodwill visit. So I joined the queue. On finally getting there the decks of the ship were lined with the Russian late teens and early 20s sailors, presumably conscripts, who were very keen to sell the badges off their uniforms for cash usable in a British pub. As a military vessel I thought she seemed rather run down and ill-maintained.
