On offer from my personal collection is a lovely vintage Rotary Aquaplunge diver. Along with the Aquaplunge chronograph, these are becoming an increasingly sought-after piece, and examples in good condition more and more rare. The combination of dial, hands, and case on this one is extremely harmonious. The watch is in good condition overall. It was serviced in 2022 by the inestimable Brendan Hoey, is running well and keeping good time.

What's particularly appealing about this piece is how it easily straddles the line between a dive watch and a dress watch. Even though it has the qualities of a serious dive watch, most notably the dive bezel, oversize lumes, and 666 ft. depth rating, its wrist presence is elegant rather than chunky. It could be put on a vintage tropical strap to go more in the diver direction, on a black leather for a dressier look, or kept with its current Seiko metal band to serve in both capacities.

All steel, all original, unpolished and unrevised.
Signed in three places: dial, crown, and caseback.

    Measurements:

    36mm w/o crown
    42mm length lug-to-lug
    18mm lug width

The Dial: The matte black dial is in excellent condition. Chunky lumes at the cardinal points are complemented by an inner 24-hr. ring. The tritium lumes have patinated to a warm, buttery yellow. Distinctive rectilinear arrow hands typical of this model from the late-60s (early executions had broad-arrow hands).

The Case: All steel case is also in very good condition. The chamfered, angular lugs are very sharp, contrasting nicely with the rounded caseback. Negligible marks there and around perimeter of the case. All lettering on caseback deep and easily legible. Some wrench-rash around the slots (note to all: Bergeon balls are your friend!).

The Bezel: It's common for these to show significant fading on Aquaplunges, but not so in this instance. The paint is a nice, deep black w/minimal ghosting. Top and bottom of numbers distinct and intact. There's a sliver of paint loss at 45 min.

    The Crown: Original, signed crown.

The Movement: 21 jewel A. Schild 1700/01 movement. As mentioned previously, recently serviced, running strong, keeping good time.

The watch will come fitted with a black leather strap. Other options possible.

$900 ONO or equivalent in GBP or Euros.

Shipping to US, Canada, UK/Europe by method of buyer's choosing. Other destinations possible, with arrangements tbd.

I have been selling and buying on OF for some time, all to the full satisfaction of everyone involved. Testimonials here:
