Hi all, Wondering your opinion on this dial. Leaning towards a redial but it is my ideal dial configuration so I thought I would throw it to the crowd in hopes I'm wrong.
Very hard to tell if it's a redial from these pictures, but I believe hands have at least been replaced since dial is lumeless.
I vote redial as the "Swiss Made" is too high on the dial. Although there were some early cal. 561's with the arrowhead markers: photo from @mondodec The case on the original watch is overpolished as well. Not the best example, I'm afraid. gatorcpa
The other "tell" is the usage of the 3 line certification language. I did not see another watch with all three of the following: 1. "Automatic Officially Certified Chronometer" on the dial. 2. Cal. 561 movement with date. 3. "Beefy" type (as opposed to "dog-leg") lugs. gatorcpa
Maybe Dr. No, Art, will post a scan of his beauty. That way you can compare it the one you're looking at.
Unfortunately (for us) his is a much older model. But I think Gator as nailed it with the combo of case, script, movement.
