All of this is fine as I am not buying another Rolex anyway, got bored with the whole process so looking at other brands and oh boy there are some great watches out there, looking forward to trying some on in the months ahead.
I concur, I never looked at Zenith or Panerai before but now have recently added an El Primero 1969 original and a Radiomir with Mediterraneo dial to my collection which I wouldn't trade for a Rolex, which is unobtainable anyway.

I live in Texas and was on a waiting list from early 2017 for a Daytona and got the call for a black one 3 weeks ago. They didn’t ask for money over the phone, they just said that if I wanted it to go a pick it up. I went and paid right there and got it.
Very nice, that's the same one I have. Seems most people go for the white dial version but I like the black dial/black bezel combination better. Just looks more of a tool watch. I got mine in Dec. 2019 through a dealer friend in St. Thomas who was saving it for his son's high school graduation, but I pried it out of him.

I originally wanted a white one but my salesman told me that they never know what are they getting and to get what ever color came first. I was able to see a black one before and really liked it so when he called saying that they had one I didn’ think it twice.

Obligatory wrist shot.

I'm not sure any other watches are going to see the light of day for a while.

Right after I feel so, usually it takes maximum 3 weeks for me to start rotating 😀. Wear in healthy good days.

I put my name down late last year.

I also had my name down for a white dial OP39 and got a call for one of those after about 6 weeks but after trying it on I decided to wait for an Explorer.

Incidentally before I put my name down at this AD I had my name down on another. They lived up to every Rolex AD stereotype and as I left the store I decided that I wouldn't buy a watch from them even if they called me the next day. I also realised that wouldn't be a problem as like you say, I fee I could wait for 20 years and never heard back from that particular AD.
Most Rolex AD's I've been into live up to my expectation. So did the A Lange & Sohne AD. Its so easy to save money after visiting these "people". I wouldn't buy from them out of principal. A friend has a mate who's a millionaire and gets treated like crap when he visits AD's too. After hearing this story I felt a little better.

David, glad to hear that it all worked out and you like your new toy!

I like Rolex and I've had a few, but lately I've come back to Omega and I'm enjoying not just the cost savings but the ability to actually purchase the watch that I want.
