I'm not the world's biggest Rolex fan, but this is far too ridiculous not to share: http://rolexpassionreport.com/18093/rolex-passion-meeting-2015/ Nice to see a smattering of Omega, Universal, Zenith, Patek, and Longines there as well Some highlights:
unreal. millions of $ in watches. never seen so many milsubs in my life. would be amazing to attend and see these pieces in the metal. That speedmaster with the base 1000 bezel & lollipop hand (2998-1, 2998-2 or 2915-3 I can't tell) is unreal. I'm always on the lookout for one.
I saw on Instagram that @georgetownhoya was in attendance - one of only 50 invitees - very exclusive club!
They meet every year. And it seems these collectors are looking to other brands outside of rolex with each passing year.
Absolutely gluttonous! Nice to see all those 300's. Spotted this in there: Is this an acceptable bezel for the panda?
I wonder if there is ever confusion as to which watch belongs to who when they set up some of those group shots with 30 or whatever of the same piece.
Rarely I would think, I also had that question myself, then the GTG in Singapore took place and it was tons of watches on the table but 0 confusion.
The issue is that it's missing the bezel. Otherwise, it's fine. They're hard to find replacements for though, so the owner has probably been on the lookout for one for a long time. Unbelievable GTG. I know many of us have Omega biases, but that Speedy steals the show for me. The lollipop hand on Speedmasters just looks awesome.
Great photos. It's always heart-warming to watch the Rolex guys awake to the realization other watches exist. The comical thing is that the alternatives they "discover" are all Rolex look-alikes - steel UG's with external bezels, assorted valjoux 72 pieces, clunky steel tool-y watches - still a very narrow focus.
