Thank you @adam78 ! Really appreciate the additional information. Not an expert in this Ref. by any means but knew it was a great price. Love the OF community! Most helpful group of collectors I've been associated with....many more acquisitions to come...just starting to heat up!!!!!

I think you did fantastically well. If you Google "Rolex 6285", you should find several examples with fluted bezels and textured dials.

That variation might be Ref. 6285-1, but more research would be needed to confirm my guess.

PS - I think the case serial number dates the watch to 1954-55. This would have been just after Rolex started their number system over after reaching 1M. I've seen somewhere that the lowest serial number known in this "new" system is around 10,000. Yours is pretty close.

Beautiful watch, congrats (I have a weakness for honeycombed dials, this one is really nice).
